T4S and T1 channels and audio driver

Just upgraded from T1 to T4S for additional channels and hoping audio driver is supported by IPAD.  Additional channels: Seems no channel added coz 5/6 is not a dedicated one. It has to be routed to any of the 1,2,3,4 channels in order to be controlled, and worse, you need two channels to make it stereo.  USB from PC can only be routed to main, aux, channels 3 and 4.  We are losing channels again if we use 3 and 4 for stereo set up, while aux and main is ridiculous coz aux has no dedicated controller (volume knob) while main should be constant.  With T1, USB from PC (in my case IPAD PRO) is routed to 4/5 channels and I can still add another IPAD using bluetooth receiver to the analog inputs of 4/5. In short, T1 channel 4/5 can control two sources and with dedicated volume control and channel processing while T4 is only adding a stereo output but losing input channels technically.  Hope somebody can correct me if I am wrong with my observation. 

AUDIO DRIVER. My DJ app in IPAD still can not map out T4 mixer just like T1. Wondering why other digital mixer like behringer, presonus, yamaha (any mixer with usb) can be detected and configured/mapped.   Hope there is updated so the audio driver will behave like that of mentioned mixers.

You're right.  Bose engineered the T4S ToneMatch mixer to have four full-function channels and two Auxiliary inputs. The Aux inputs 5/6 are routed directly to the Main Output. You can use the Pan and Level adjustments accessible through the PAN/AUX menu. There are no changes to routing, or signal processing available. 

If you stereo is not critical, you can set your iPad to Mono

The Aux inputs are useful for sources that have their own volume and signal processing (e.g. EQ or effects). They are similar to an effects return channel on other mixers. Use the Master Volume to raise and lower the volume of the Aux inputs in sync with the other channels. To change the volume of the Aux inputs relative to the other inputs you can use the AUX/PAN Level (soft menu), or on the source device.

Yes, you are observing all of this correctly.  To replicate what you were doing with the T1  (overlapping two mono signals on a full-function channel, you can

• Set the iPad outputs to mono
• Connect one iPad through USB and route that to channel 4
• Connect the other iPad through the analog input for channel 4

You still have channels 1, 2, 3 available for other sources with full processing. You'll also have Aux inputs 5/6 for something else.

Yes, if you want to run stereo, you'll need to use two channels (3 and 4).

Stereo input is critical to my set up because not only I do One Man Band with backing track, I also DJ (main + pre cue), and Karaoke, all in my IPAD PRO.  My DJ app needs stereo, even my backing track, and karaoke to sound better with my stereo powered speakers system. 

I think, T1 will work better for me for the meantime, even without dedicated stereo out, but with USB from my IPAD to channel 4/5 plus analog input (4/5) with dedicated control (volume knob) and processing (eq, compressor, etc).  Channel 1 - vocals, Channel 2 - guitar, Channel 3 - wireless mic (EMCEE, karaoke),  Channel 4/5 -  backing track/dj using USB, and analog input (4/5) for bluetooth (for my wireless karaoke on another IPAD). 

With T4, the only gain  is just dedicated stereo output while losing the above mentioned channels and advantages.  If they really want to add channels to T4, Bose should make 5/6 (usb routable like T1) as a dedicated channel like 1,2,3,4, and put its volume knob in place of the headphone volume knob.  Channel volume knob is more important than headphone's (or put a small volume knob beside the headphone out). With this set up there will be 5 dedicated input channels with 5 dedicated controller.

Thanks for your analysis and information.

To do everything you want in stereo with a ToneMatch mixer, you need a T8S.  That's the price of stereo for your application. But let me acknowledge, we don't have a solution for the cue-feature in your DJ app running on your iPad Pro.

Thanks ST.  I have other digital mixers (behringer XR18 and presonus rm32) for my huge gigs.  T4S would have been the perfect solution for both small and huge gigs that would really simplify my set up.
