I have just received my new A20 and today I had my first flight with it.
Unfortunately, the mic doesn't work.
Is there a special setup procedure that needs to be done before it starts working?
While you wait for a Bose Mod to process your reply. It might be useful if you give your Bose A20 Headset Part Number and also mention which Aircraft Make and Model you are using it on. (There are different Microphone Types and there may be a mismatch which is why I suggest this.)
Mostly once installed, if it is the correct match for your Aircraft type, simply plugging in will activate the Mic if the Intercom system is on and Vox turned down. If no Intercom, a Test transmit on the Aircraft Radio should give you a noticeable 'Sidetone' of your Voice if both the Headset Control Box Volume Levels are up and also the Aircraft Radio Audio up.
Try another Headset if you haven't already in the same connectors and ensure it is not a Socket or Aircraft problem.
All the best and good luck,

I bought 4 A20s for my Cirrus SR22T. I just recently used the fourth unit on a flight and the microphone doesn't work on it. The passenger can hear sound but can't transmit voice. All the other headsets work fine. I tried plugging the defective unit into all the various jacks (pilot, co pilot, passenger) and still no microphone. Anything I can do to mitigate the issue or do I have to return the unit. I bought it on Amazon.
Unless I am mistaken, the Cirrus uses Electret Mics. Can I assume they are new Headsets and all the same type? Twin Plug with Battery?
If so, then check the Part Numbers you have bought and you may have bought one with a Low Impedance Mic possibly? If so, it won't be compatible. If it doesn't have Bluetooth, that's a good indicator it's not electret.
If they are not new, you may have bought one with a non Electret Mic which may be why it's not putting out Audio?
If it is the same part number (check in the Battery Box and the Part Number under the Headbands on each of them to see if it's the same) check the little dip switch settings in the Battery Box are the same as the others that work? There's a MONO/STEREO there to check.
If it is not new, and appears to be the same as the others, gently rotate the Mic Stem to see that it hits the rotation Stops each way and doesn't rotate through 360 degrees. If it does, it may the wiring in the Mic Stem Joint has been ruptured. That will be a return to Bose job.
If it is new and the same part number, I would ask for a return to Seller?
Write or PM me if you need more help?
All the best,

I bought new A20's... my issue is/was automatic "pairing"... for some reason, it wasn't automatic.
Suddenly, a few months ago, the pairing started working fine... a demon in there somewhere.
Note; I did have to return a set as the nice ATC people could not hear me but I could hear them... that wasn't a fun experience. I returned the set and Bose repaired and returned to me at no cost. The point is, I would call Bose immediately, no need to suffer.
