Speaker will not turn on when using battery
To resolve this issue, please try the following:
- If the speaker has not been connected to power and has not been used for 24 days, it enters protection mode to preserve the life of the battery. Connect the speaker to power to exit battery protection mode. New products are often in this mode since they typically stay in a box for more than 24 days
- Install any available product updates. Visit btu.Bose.com and follow the instructions to ensure your product has the latest features and enhancements
- The battery may not be sufficiently charged. The battery must have some charge in order for it to power up the speaker. For best results, use a USB charging source that can provide 1.6 amperes of current. At a minimum, the USB charging source must be able to provide 1 ampere of current
- Put the speaker into Ship mode, then allow it to charge for one hour. Entering Ship mode reboots the product but does not erase settings, like language selection or Bluetooth® device memory.
- Put the speaker into Ship mode.
- Connect the speaker to a power outlet
- Press and hold the Multi-function button for 10 seconds
- While continuing to hold the Multi-function button, unplug the speaker from power
- Release the Multi-function button.
- Connect the speaker to power to exit Ship mode.
- Let the speaker charge for at least one hour.
- If the issue is resolved, check for and install any available product updates using a computer by going to btu.bose.com.

Speaker will not turn on when connected to AC power
Please try the following to resolve your issue:
- Make sure your system is connected to a working AC (mains) outlet. When connected to power, your product plays a tone. If you plug in but don't hear a tone, try plugging in another device (i.e. a lamp) to the same power outlet to confirm the outlet works.
- Make sure you are using the Bose power supply that shipped with your speaker. While the speaker can be physically connected to other USB power chargers, the Bose power supply is recommended for best results
- Make sure both ends of the power supply cable are firmly connected.
- Put the speaker into Ship mode, then allow it to charge for one hour. Entering Ship mode reboots the product but does not erase settings, like language selection or Bluetooth® device memory.

Speaker will not turn on when using battery
Connect the speaker with its charging cable to a USB charger or a powered computer USB port. You may need to do this for the following reasons:
- The battery may not be sufficiently charged. The battery must have sufficient charge to power up the speaker
- The speaker has been disconnected from power and unused for 14 days. When this happens, it goes into battery protection mode. Brand new speakers are typically in this mode when they're first removed from the box
- The speaker is unplugged and unused for more than three days with a remaining charge of less than 10%. When this happens, it also goes into battery protection mode

Speaker will not turn on when using battery
To resolve this issue, please try the following:
- Connect the system to AC power. If the system is disconnected from AC power and unused for 14 days or more, the system enters a protection mode to preserve battery power. This is typically the case with brand new systems just being removed from the box. It is then necessary to connect the unit to AC power to reactivate the system
- The battery may not be sufficiently charged. The battery must have some charge in order for it to power up the system
