Bose Sound Sanctuary

For many years, Bose has been donating products to help those who are in need. Sometimes, it’s an individual who reaches out to tell us how they feel a Bose product could empower them in their healing process. Other times we’ll hear from someone who wants to use a Bose product to help a friend or family member cope.

Occasionally, the individuals who received our products would follow up to share how Bose sound impacted their lives. And it was from those stories, from those honest recollections, that the Sound Sanctuary program was born.

It was a simple realization, really. Products are engineered, but stories aren’t. Truth just happens. It’s real life, real needs, and a real opportunity to make a difference. And we want to do it more.

INTRODUCING BOSE SOUND SANCTUARY

MOTHER AND SUPERHERO

David had been completely disconnected in school with behavior issues, social anxiety, and exhaustion. Eventually, we learned that David suffers from Hyperacusis, a hearing disorder that’s characterized by an increased sensitivity to certain frequencies and volume ranges of sound.

One day during a shopping trip, David and I stopped into a Bose store and he was offered the chance to try on a pair of QC35 II’s. He loved them. I decided to make the purchase and David’s life truly changed.

Teachers, friends, and family all noticed the turnaround. He used the headphones in school to reduce the volume of sounds around him as the teacher used a special mic (recommended by the salespeople at the Bose store). David was not only paying attention, but also excelling in his school work. His social life picked up considerably. He was now participating in gym class (his favorite subject) and the teachers and David’s friends were just blown away.

“I really like these headphones because they help me with a lot of things at school: My ear problem and my hair problem. (David has very long — very curly — brown hair).

My ear problem was pretty bad because I was hearing things too much. And my hair problem — well, it wasn’t as bad, but it wasn’t ok. But I wouldn’t say that my teacher was happy with it! So these headphones, they pull it back. And then they make it so that I don’t hear as much in Gym.”

Just this last quarter, David got straight A’s for the first time. I mean he always had the smarts but had a hard time focusing because of the Hyperacusis.

This product is able to reduce noise and frequencies that bother David and has made a world of difference in the life of our family.
